One lucky winner by the name of Jim Morgan is the proud new owner of the original Honda Type R concept car. The one of a kind model is tuned to the max and was the first of the Mugen models who are Honda Cars performance tuning partners. The presentation took place at Silverstone after the Honda BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) team gave the lucky Mr. Morgan a ride around the circuit at break neck speeds. While sales of the Civic have done Honda Cars proud in the UK, the appeal of the car they have sold since 1972; when it was introduced as a 2 door coupe; has waned amongst the Japanese consumer. The care will no longer be sold in Japan due to falling sales but the Japanese manufacturer will still make cars for export despite the fact that it is made in another thirteen sites in other countries. In just one week the Honda Cars CR-Z has managed to beat the opposition to the top spot for no less than three awards. In what has been a very highly competitive year for innovative cars the CR-Z saw off all competitors to win the Car of the Year in Japan which of course is Honda’s home. The award which is another feather in the cap for the Japanese car manufacturer who’s British car plant is in Swindon. The survey by Fleet News is carried out annually and takes in to account more than 1,500,000 fleet cars from all across Britain.
